Classroom Practicum Placements (K-12 Schools)

Complete two 4-week supervised school district classroom practicums

STEP 4

Criminal Record Check & Emergency First Aid

Obtain criminal record clearance under CRRP and valid CPR certificate

What a day looks like

Work takes place in elementary, middle, and secondary public school classrooms, sensory rooms, and resource pods, as well as school playgrounds, gymnasiums, field trips, and school bus loading zones.

Watch out for

Be mindful of managing escalated student behaviors, requiring nonviolent crisis intervention (nvci) de-escalation training and follow all required safety procedures.

Where it can lead

Specialize in complex behavioral intervention, deaf and hard-of-hearing support, or braille instruction.

Transition into municipal youth centers, group homes, or community social services.
