  • General BC secondary school curriculum and coursework at the Grade 11 level.

  • General high school graduation (BC Dogwood Diploma) or equivalent mature student status.

What you need to get in

  • Minimum 19 years of age at the time of licensing application
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or valid work permit authorization
  • Clean criminal record check and bankruptcy discharge confirmation if applicable
  • CISRO and Insurance Council of BC approved Life License Qualification Program provider
  • Minimum 19 years of age at provincial exam registration

  • Register online through an authorized education provider such as IFSE Institute, Advocis, or Oliver’s Learning

Life license qualification course

1 to 3 Months
  • Four core curriculum modules: Life Insurance, Accident and Sickness Insurance, Segregated Funds and Annuities, and Ethics and Professional Practice (BC)
  • Policy underwriting, insurable interest, mortality tables, and premium calculation models
  • Contract mechanics for term life, whole life, universal life, disability income, and critical illness policies
  • Provincial regulatory obligations under the Insurance Council of British Columbia and CISRO harmonized rules
  • Consumer privacy compliance and federal anti-money laundering (FINTRAC) reporting obligations
