Grade 12
⏱ 1 School Year- English Studies 12. Requirement varies by school (British Columbia Institute of Technology, Carson Dunlop Home Inspection Training). Strictest requirement: standard completion.
- High school graduation or mature student status (minimum 19 years of age)

What you need to get in
- Criminal record check through local police or RCMP
- A peer recommendation letter
- Business registration and a municipal business licence
- Consumer Protection BC (CPBC) approved education program for home inspector licensing
- Basic computer proficiency for online course modules and digital reporting

How to apply
- Register for modular house inspection courses directly at BCIT via flexible part-time studies
- No formal educational entrance prerequisites required for modular course registration
- Complete foundational building envelope and structural inspection courses first
- Submit course completion transcripts to Consumer Protection BC when seeking inspection licensing

- Foundations, structural wood framing, roofing membranes, and building envelope moisture control
- Residential electrical service panels, branch wiring, GFCI/AFCI protection, and safety hazards
- Heating systems, furnaces, heat pumps, boilers, venting, and residential plumbing fixtures
- Report writing standards, defect identification, thermal imaging, and BC Home Inspector Code of Ethics
