Grade 11

  • Recommended: Grade 12 with English 12 and Math 11 (Foundations or Pre-Calculus)
  • Recommended: Grade 12 with English 12, Math 11, and Physics 11
  • Recommended: Workplace Math 11 or Foundations Math 11
  • Mathematics 11. Requirement varies by school (Okanagan College, Thompson Rivers University). Strictest requirement: standard completion.

  • Registered apprentice with SkilledTradesBC and employer sponsor (or Electrical Foundation certificate)
  • Registered apprentice with SkilledTradesBC with employer sponsorship, or Electrical Foundation certificate
  • SkilledTradesBC apprentice registration with active employer sponsor, or Electrical Foundation certificate
  • Registered apprentice with SkilledTradesBC and employer sponsor, or completion of Electrical Foundation
  • Valid SkilledTradesBC apprentice identification number

How to apply

  • Register for technical training blocks at an approved trade school (BCIT or Camosun College)
  • Provide SkilledTradesBC apprentice registration number and employer verification
  • Book training blocks in advance to coordinate with employer job site schedules
  • Apply for federal apprenticeship incentive grants and Employment Insurance during classroom training

Electrician training

⏱ 10 Weeks per Level (4 Levels)
  • 4 levels of technical training (10 weeks per level, 40 weeks total over 4 years)
  • DC and AC electrical theory, electromagnetism, and single and three-phase circuits
  • Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and BC Electrical Safety Code regulations
  • Industrial motor controls, transformers, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and blueprint reading
  • Hands-on conduit bending, panel wiring, instrumentation, and safety lockout procedures
